The Sauk Prairie Police Department serves the Villages of Sauk City and Prairie Du Sac. We are located in a beautiful area along the Wisconsin River between Madison and Wisconsin Dells. Salary Minimum
$82,764 yearly 

Salary Maximum
$96,994 yearly 

Position Responsibilities
The sergeant’s position is responsible for assisting the Chief of Police and Police Lieutenant in maintaining law and order within the Villages of Sauk City and Prairie du Sac. Persons in this position are responsible for supervisory duties within the police department as well as assuming general police and administrative functions as needed. The sergeant will actively direct department personnel and resources toward the realization of municipal and department goals and objectives. The Police Sergeant is also expected to perform the duties of all subordinate classifications, including handling calls for service.


Lateral Transfer Program Details
Lateral members will be placed on the seniority schedule based on their date of hire with the Department. Lateral transfers are eligible for vacation benefits based on experience in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement. Vacation time is awarded at hire but cannot be utilized during Field Training.

  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • Previous experience
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
  • Vision correctable to 20/20


Other Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years full time Law Enforcement experience
